Due to concerns about infection risks, we have been advised to change our online appointments to telephone triage appointments. The telephone triage appointments offered will mean that you do not have to attend the surgery unless the GP requests to see you once you have been triaged over the telephone. This service will commence from Tuesday 17th March until further notice. If you wish to request an online telephone assessment appointment, please log in to online services in the normal way. 


Appointments

We operate an appointments system for both morning and afternoon surgeries

Appointments are available to see a GP between 8.10am and 6.30pm over the weekly period. Pre-booked appointments with a doctor of your choice can be made up to 6 weeks in advance.

Routine appointments are for ten minutes.  Please arrive before your appointment time to ensure you don't lose your place. If you arrive more than 5 minutes after your appointment time you will be asked to rebook the appointment. Individual appointments must be booked for each patient who wishes to be seen the doctor/ nurse. 

Appointments can be made by the following three methods:

  1. Visiting the Surgery - Our Reception staff will be pleased to arrange appointments for you and to help you with any queries you may have.  They are here to help you obtain the very best possible service. Please help them to help you by giving as much information as possible especially in an emergency. We would wish to assure you that the rules of confidentiality apply to all of our Practice Staff.
  2. By Telephone - Call our reception team to book an appointment over the telephone on 020 7511 4466.
  3. Online - If you wish to book an appointment online, then you must first visit the surgery in person to obtain your login details. 

At work or can't attend an appointment at your practice during the Day? then a number of appointments are bookable at Hubs in Newham by calling directly on  0207 540 9949 between the hours of 8am - 6.30pm for appointments    on Monday - Friday 18.30 - 22.00  or  Saturday & Sunday 08.00 - 20.00


Appointment Advice 

Please also ensure that you arrive on time for your appointment. Unfortunately, as a result of recurrent late attendances we have decided that if you are delayed for more than 5 minutes you will be asked to re-book another alternative appointment.

We have an On-Call doctor every day for urgent medical advice only.  We do not offer a Walk –in-Service, however if patients  feel their problem is urgent and cannot wait for a routine appointment, they should ask to speak to the On-Call doctor.

Please inform the receptionist if you need a Chaperone or a Translator.

Occasionally due to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, our doctors or nurses may be running late.  If a doctor or nurse is running more than 30 minutes late you will be informed.

Was the doctor running late?

We appreciate that our patients are busy and wish to be seen on time. We do not wish to keep you waiting, but unfortunately there are times when our doctors do run late. There are several reasons for this and we offer some suggestions to help.

Patients come to a single appointment with many problems

This is probably the main reason the doctor does not run to time.

A ten minute appointment is usually only sufficient for the doctor to deal adequately with a single problem, although we would always give your problem full consideration if it takes longer.

If we have called you in for review we will not have time to deal with any other issues within the same appointment; please book an additional appointment so we can allocate the time that you need.

No matter how quick you think the discussion will be, each consultation must be properly recorded, and it is not possible for our doctors to see two patients within a ten minute appointment slot.

Emergencies

Due to the nature of our work, it is inevitable that we will receive unavoidable emergency telephone calls; Patients may need to be admitted to hospital, requests for help from other staff members, emergency consultations and home visits.

It is not the fault of the Practice Receptionists when GP’s run late. We ask for your understanding and empathy when these situations arise.

Text Message Reminders

If you are not able to attend for your appointment, please remember to cancel the appointment. We routinely send text reminders so patients are informed of their appt 24 hours before the appointment is due.

If you fail to attend 3 appointments without notification to us then you will be informed in writing. If this persists then regretfully you will no longer be registered with our surgery.
